Areas of Interest
One of my areas of interest is that of Ecopsychology.
A new field within psychotherapy, ecopsychology recognises the alienation that many of us feel as a result of being disconnected from the natural world. It is this disconnection which allows us to continue to destroy our planet whilst at the same time engaging in ultimately disatisfying behaviours. This disatisfaction and alienation can then lead to depression, emptiness and other psychological symptoms.
Working in an ecopsychology mindful way, I am open to listening for signs that such a process may be at work within my clients.
I am also interested in creative writing and poetry in particular as a means of expressing feelings and processing our experiences.
Background
Before training as a psychotherapist, I worked for many years in a Sales and Marketing environment for a large global corporation. I,therefore, understand the culture and expectations of such an environment which can be very helpful to some of my clients.
I have made some major life changes and am well placed to support clients who are contemplating similar life decisions.
I am also a parent and so understand the pressures and anxieties that this role brings.
